Managing SPAM e-mail

Due to the increased number of spam messages being received by users, PowerNET is introducing a new spam filtering solution. This filtering solution should help reduce the number of spam messages received by users and help stop legitimate messages from being blocked by mistake.
Accessing Spam Messages
There are three ways in which to access your spam messages. The first way is to open a web browser and point it to https://spam.bentonrea.com. Then enter your full email address and email password as shown, and click Login. The second way is to click the “quick link” on our website for “Spam manager.”

The third way to access your spam messages is with a quarantine email. The spam filter will inform you via email daily if any messages have been quarantined. From this email you can take direct action with the Deliver, Whitelist, Delete and View links. You can also select the View your entire Quarantine Inbox or manage your preferences link to login and gain full access to your spam messages.
Managing Spam Messages
Once you have logged into your account, there are several options for managing your Spam messages. These options include Deliver, Whitelist, Delete, mark as Spam and mark as Not Spam, as seen below.
Selecting the Deliver option will send that message directly to your inbox.
Selecting the Whitelist option will add the sender to your whitelist. This will ensure that future messages from this sender will not be caught as spam. It will also deliver the message to your inbox.
Selecting the Delete option will delete the message from your quarantine inbox.
Selecting Spam and Not Spam
This new filter is a learning spam solution. This means that over time, as you report messages as either spam or not spam, the filter will learn your preferences and begin to manage messages based on them.
Selecting a message and then selecting the Spam option will open a new window, as seen below. It is recommended to keep both the boxes checked and select Apply. This will mark the message as spam, removed it from your quarantine inbox and help the filter learn your preferences.
Selecting a message and then selecting the Not Spam option will open a new window, as seen below. It is recommended to keep these two boxes checked and select Apply. This will mark the message as Not Spam, deliver it to your inbox, and help the filter learn your preferences. If the Whitelist box is checked before selecting Apply, it will also add the sender to your whitelist.
Whitelisting/Blacklisting a Known Address
To whitelist or blacklist a known address, first login to your quarantine inbox. Then select the Preferences tab, as seen below.
Next enter the email address or domain into the whitelist or blacklist box, as seen below and select add. When the address is added it will be displayed below the box.
